Quick Safety Tip
"NEVER line trash cans with plastic trash bags due to the choking and suffocation hazard it poses"

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission released a recall in conjunction with Stork Craft Manufacturing, Inc related to 2.1 million drop-side cribs distributed in the US and Canada between 1993 and 2009. Some of the cribs have the Stork Craft branding but about 147,000 cribs have the Fisher-Price branding. There have been reports of problems with the plastic hardware used to operate the drop-side, leading to potential entrapment, suffocation, and fall scenarios.
Stork Craft is providing a free repair kit to convert the drop-side into a fixed side. From the press release:
The cribs’ drop-side plastic hardware can break, deform, or parts can become missing. In addition, the drop-side can be installed upside-down, which can result in broken or disengaged plastic parts. All of these problems can cause the drop-side to detach in one or more corners. When the drop-side detaches, it creates space between the drop-side and the crib mattress. The bodies of infants and toddlers can become entrapped in the space which can lead to suffocation. Complete detachment of drop-sides can lead to falls from the crib.
Owners of any Stork Craft cribs with a drop-side are urged to check with Stork Craft about getting a free repair kit at www.storkcraft.com or calling toll free (877) 274-0277 at any time. You can find the manufacture date, model number, crib name and any other related information including contact info on the assembly instruction sheet attached to the mattress support board.
