Prepared Not Unprepared

Here are some things to consider when building one:

  • Children like to hide in closets and under beds during fires, make sure they know to get out immediately!
  • Don’t waste time gathering personal property.  Get out ASAP!
  • Call 911 from a trusted neighbor’s house.
  • Know two ways out of each room.
  • Feel closed doors prior to opening them.  If they are hot, use an alternate escape route.
  • Have a family meeting place.
  • Designate one person to remove infants and small children from the home and then stay out.  Don’t re-enter a house that is on fire.  Notify firefighters of anyone who is missing.
