We hope that you have a fun and exciting holiday weekend planned with friends and family.
For many of us, our 4th of July memories include backyard BBQ’s, time at the beach or pool, and of course fireworks! If fireworks are legal to use where you live (please check with your local police department), we have some quick safety tips to follow to ensure that all goes smoothly.
- Make sure children are supervised at all times.
- Do not allow children to pay with fireworks, including sparklers.
- Buy only legal fireworks which will be clearly marked with the manufacturer and directions.
- Check with your local police department regarding what types of fireworks are legal and ok to use in your area.
- Use fireworks outside only and always keep a bucket of water, hose and fire extinguisher handy.
- Wear eye protection when lighting fireworks.
- Point all fireworks away from your home, bushes, trees and any flammable substances.
- Never point fireworks at anyone.
- Do not allow kids to pick up pieces of fireworks, even if they appear to be cooled.
- Soak all fireworks in water before discarding.
- Do not hold fireworks while lighting them.
- Only light one firework at a time.
