National Home Safety Month

June is National Home Safety Month and therefore there’s no better time to sit down with your family, and your babysitters to discuss safety topics.  It really only takes a few minutes.  Some things to consider: Have smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors been checked? Are emergency phone numbers posted in a visible place? If your child is old enough to know his/her name and address, do they know to call 911 in case of emergency? What is your family’s fire and earthquake safety plan? Some good reminders for parents and caregivers of small children: Never leave children alone, especially near water. Keep chemicals, food, and other small objects away from children. Keep sleeping areas as bare as possible. Make sure all electrical outlets are covered. Secure windows, block stairways, and lock doors. Check out this article for some other great tips -  and enjoy the beautiful weather!
